is it safe to leave rechargeable AA/AAA batteries in a charger until needed?
I understand that chargers made today have a cut off circuit that stops the charging when capacity is reached. But are there any bad things that can happen to the batteries if left in the charger for weeks or months, such as a loss in storage capacity, or corrosion? THANKIES ALL!
Most newer chargers shut off when the batteries are at peak charge, but some older, or cheaper chargers may continue to charge, damaging batteries after prolonged charging. A good way to check is charge them 12 to 20 hrs (depending on the charger) and see if the batteries are still warm, if they continue to be warm, they shouldn't be on for more than a day or so. If they are room temp. or cool, they should be fine for quite a while, NiMH Batteries are ment to be stored fully charged.
